Olivia called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. In attendance were Olivia Dudding, Taylor Powelson, Jenn Buttler and Diana Grant. The minutes were voted on and approved. First, the Director’s Report of the Library:
1) Book and a Movie will be Friday, February 27, 2026 at 6:00 pm. We will be showing Where the Wild Things Are in the Helper Auditorium. We have 10 books to give away.
2) Diana reported about Middle School boys who were coming on Mondays to learn LAN and eventually do some 3D printing. A male patron who was at the public computers, got upset by the noise from the boys and threw a pen and hit one of them in the face. Emma called the police who came and escorted the man out of the library. The boys have not been back and Diana will try to get ahold of the high school guy who was leading the group and see if they want to come back. This was an after-school program.
3) The CLEF grant will be for $4,603.00. Diana is working on the application which is due January 30th. Olivia will come to the library and go over what we can spend the money on besides collection development and a 3D printer.
4) Our new City Council representative is Ruth Lee. She came to the library and introduced herself but was unable to come to this meeting.
5) Our next regularly scheduled meeting is March 26th and our State Library liaison will be here to conduct library board training for our members.
Ashley was not able to come to this meeting but she wanted the board to know that her husband has volunteered to build a wooden gingerbread house for next year’s Christmas parade. She also suggested we start a plant station in the windows so people can swap seedlings. We could combine it with a book and a movie.
Jenn wants to start a silent book club through the library. Some meetings could be at the library and some in the auditorium. She has dates for 2/11, 2/20 and 2/25,
Olivia stated that we need to get Friends of the Library started up again.
We will have an informal meeting 2/19 at 6:00 pm. to get some of these ideas further along.
