The meeting was called to order at 6:15pm. In attendance were Olivia Dudding, Jennifer Buttrick, Ashley Vincent and Ruth Lee.
To begin the meeting Jen talked over her research on the requirements and classes needed if any board member wants to volunteer to work Saturdays. She also reviewed the importance of increasing wages of current library staff. Moving on to her ideas and hopes to complete a year of planned-out events for the library to increase library cards and Libby registration. Stating things like Christmas in July and oddities expo hosted at the library. Ruth stated that she agrees and thinks having a plan for events for the year is a great idea. As far as the increase in wages, the city is budgeting for an increase in the Library Assistant wage and will send the budget for the board to review for the past fiscal year to prepare for the 2027 fiscal year.
Ruth read aloud a message from Miriam who wanted to update the board on her Music and Movement program open to children and families. It will be held 1-2 times a month in the park, weather permitting, on Mondays. She is also hoping to gather some instruments or have the board get together to make some instruments to use during the class. Flyers and posters will be available soon.
Olivia reiterated the idea of creating and updating a “general plan” for the library for the upcoming year and being in the loop about the budget and where the money is spent. She also asked about library interviews and if they were approved to conduct their own interviews for board members to send to city council for approval. Ruth stated this has been conditionally approved by Cole as long as we go over the questions that can and cannot be asked to conduct a proper interview for the position.
A motion to close the meeting was made by Olivia and seconded by Ruth followed by a unanimous vote by the board to close at 7:30pm.
