We did not have a quorum so we held an informal meeting as there were several topics that needed to be discussed. In attendance were Stacie Turpin, DG Fletcher, Emma Hermanson (library employee), Jennifer Buttrick (prospective member), Laurie Barrett (city council representative) and Diana Grant.
Book and a Movie will be Friday, August 22nd at 6:00 pm. We will be showing Balto and give out the book to participating kids. We will do the usual hot dogs, popcorn, chips and bottled water.
The Library Board will have a table at the August 9th Saturday Vibes from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We will have board members sign up for 2-hour shifts. We will be issuing library cards, have a coloring contest for kids and adults and have prizes for the winners. We can use some of the book bags we have for summer reading and sell books that have been pulled from the shelves and deleted from the inventory.
For after school Mondays, we would like to implement a Junk Journal project for the middle schoolers and tie it into reading books. We would like to start this in September or October.
We would like to start a summer book club for teenagers next year. Also, we will have an art show at the end of the Art Club that Ashley Vincent is running.
