Stacie called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. In attendance were Olivia Dudding, Taylor Powelson, Jen Buttrick, Stacie Turpin and Diana Grant.
Book and a Movie – After a discussion, we will try to get books for Nanny McPhee and if we can’t, we will do the Secret Life of Pets for our program on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 6:00 pm. We have some speakers which may work with the projector.
After School Program – Emma, library employee, has been working on a program for middle schoolers, early out Monday. She has made a flyer and different activities for the kids that come here on Mondays.
The library has a new computer program which will take effect on Monday, Sept. 29th. The state library did not renew the contract for Polaris, the current library program, so we had no choice but to start a new program. There are some new features for patrons, which we will promote as we start using the program.
Taylor would like to begin a Nature Journaling Club for all ages. It will meet for four weeks every season for the next year. It will cost approximately $70 per person; we will contact local businesses to see if they would like to sponsor journaling kits. All participants of the program need to have a library card.
It was discussed that we need to have a food handler’s card for Book and a Movie. Diana will check into getting one as she is in charge of the food for the kids.
Diana will make copies of our strategic plan to give to all the board members. This has to be renewed every 3 years and submitted to the state library. The newest one was written last year.
The board members have agreed to help Ashley complete the year for the Art Club which meets once a week. Volunteers are needed to finish the program in December and have an art show to show off the kid’s projects. It was also discussed about doing it at the Rio when the Scrooge show is happening.
Jen talked about having Zines for tweens and teens with all kinds of different topics. She talked about the Moxie Movie which is about a feminist zine empowering young women.
We have also decided to have our November meeting at Balanced Rock on November 11th. We had one meeting last year at Helper Beer and it was productive and a fun time.
